Temporary 100% VA Disability Rating

Did you know if you spend time in a VA hospital or a VA-approved hospital for a disability related to your military service, you may be able to get a temporary 100% disability rating? Here’s how:  You spend more than 21 days in a VA hospital or other approved hospital for a service-connected disability; You are under hospital observation for more than 21 days at a VA facility for a service-connected disability.  Veteran must file a claim to get a temporary 100% rating.

      

Truth About Toxic Exposure Screening

Did you know the purpose of the toxic exposure screening is for enrolled veterans to self-report potential exposures to toxins during their military service?  Getting your screening starts a conversation about your exposure concerns, so that any future symptoms or clinical evaluations you need can be considered alongside your exposure history.  Veterans May Be Cut Off  

Did you know the Affordable Connectivity Program currently provides between $30 and $75 a month to cover internet bills of more than 23 million households across the country, about half of whom are veterans and active duty service members?  However, Government officials are sounding the alarm that the federal subsidy helping millions of veterans and military families pay for internet access will end soon unless Congress extends the program before the start of May 2024.

     

Weekly Practice Has Ended

Did you know the VA ended its weekly practice of submitting the names of veterans appointed fiduciaries to handle their VA disability benefits to the FBI’s national background check database?  The database contains information on veterans prohibited from buying or receiving firearms. Inclusion in the database legally disqualifies veterans from owning, possessing or buying firearms from licensed dealers.

    

VA's 5-Year Rule

Did you know the VA’s 5-year rule provides veterans with a level of security, ensuring that their disability rating remains stable?   If a service-connected disability shows no significant improvement over five years, the VA discontinues periodic reexaminations, treating the condition as unchanging.

   

     

   

    

   

   

   

   

   

   

              

Veterans Living With MS   

Did you know the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) estimates that 55,000-70,000 veterans live with multiple sclerosis in the United States? The VA established the MS Centers of Excellence (MSCoE) to further understand MS and its impact on veterans.  The MSCoE promotes research into the causes of and treatments for MS.  It consists of a network of around 90 MS programs that aims to minimize disability and maximize quality of life for veterans with MS.

VA May Owe You Compensation

Did you know if you or a loved one deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan between 2003 and 2017 the VA may owe you compensation?  If you or your family member suffered injuries such as loss of limb, loss of eyesight, required surgeries due to blast impacts, or experienced severe traumatic brain injuries due to sniper, rocket mortar, EFP, or IED attacks, you might be entitled to compensation.
