Q888:  I would like someone to answer a question for me. When a veteran goes through so much to file a claim and it finally gets approved this could take months and something in that claim was denied, then down the road the VA adds what was denied in the veterans to the list of diseases or disability why does the VA not go through those claims and automatically notify the veteran they are reviewing his/ her case?

A1:  Actually, the VA does go back and review those but the also publicize the new law to get the word out and encourage the veterans to refile their claims. The VA is overloaded and understaffed.  (DS)  7/14/23

A2:  The VA does review disability claims and may notify veterans when a new disability is deemed presumptive service-connected. However, it is important to note that the VA may not always notify veterans directly of such determinations.  It is the responsibility of the veteran to regularly check the status of their disability claim and follow up with the VA if they have any questions or concerns.  Also, maintain contact with your local VSO who can help you.  (GV)  7/14/23

A3:  My VSO reached out to me when hypertension became presumptive.  Finding a good VSO is key,  (WC)  7/14/23
