Q869:  I had filed to be on the Camp Lejeune act of 2012. How can I get a copy of that? I need to file for compensation and what do I need to file?

A1:  If you served at Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River for at least 30 cumulative days from August 1953 through December 1987, you simply file your claim on a VA Form 21-526ez and list the disability/s you feel is related to being stationed at Camp Lejeune during the time period listed above. VA will do the leg work for you. VA can determine if you served there during that time. If, for some reason, the VA cannot place you there then have any of your buddies complete a VA Form 21-10210 Lay Statement attesting to knowing you then and there.  (DS)  7/22/22

A2:  If your DD Form 214 shows you were stationed at Camp LeJeune that's all the proof you need to get service connected for any of the diseases that is covered by the bill.  (GR)  7/22/22

A3:  To file a claim for medical conditions related to the contaminated water at Camp LeJeune, you need only to prove that you were there during the time period and that you now suffer from any of the medical conditions presumed to be caused by that exposure. A search of VA.gov website will produce a list of those medical conditions and the time period. Please contact a local VSO for assistance with filing a claim with VA. Never let a supposed lack of records stop you from applying. Do NOT pay for benefits filing assistance as this is free per federal mandate.  Good luck to you and Thank You for Your Service!  (LK)  7/26/22
