A1: The first step is to find an accredited Veteran Service Officer to assist with filing your claim. You'll need some medical evidence showing that the ringworm has required constant treatment, therefore is chronic. The first thing to do is file a VA Form 21-0966, Intent to File. This gives you a year to gather evidence and file your claim and maintain your effective date. Claims are effective the first day of the following month in which VA receives your intent to file or formal claim. Then file your formal claim on a VA Form 21-526ez. (DS) 7/18/22
A2: If you served on active duty, and was diagnosed with a disability and treated for the disability, by all means file a claim with your nearest VA Office. You would need medical records showing you first contacted them in service and medical records now showing what you were diagnosed is causing current disability. So please call your local VA office at 1-800-287-1000. (PR) 7/20/22
