Your generous gift will go directly to helping veterans and dependents. We simply cannot continue without your help for our community of veterans and dependents who count on us for our Veteran Pantry. Your support will make a lasting impact.
A1: Don't give up. Never give in. I fought for 10 years and finally got what I was after. Hang in there and fight. (JP) 5/2/22
A2: Call the closest regional office and ask for them to stop the claim or submit a VA Form 21-4138 making the same request. (RJ) 5/2/22
A3: I guess my question is this: Do you have a POA identified or are you going it alone? Any veteran who tries to go it alone has a much harder time getting a claim processed through the VBA. So, if you don't have a POA identified, my suggestion is to immediately get one signed up for your support.
Also, do you have both an eBenefits and MyHealtheVet account? With a Premium account in both you then have the ability to check on the status of your claims yourself without having to go through a middleman. So, if NO is your answer, please get signed up for an account with both and take charge of your future.
As a final note, DO NOT hire one of those individuals who will take your money, claiming that they will "push" your claims through - for a price. Getting service connected SHOULD NOT COST YOU A DIME!
Please feel free to contact me directly and I'd be honored to talk further with you on this subject; at NO COST I assure you. (TB) 5/2/22
A4: That's what they want you to do - quit! Hang in the fight. If you don't have an attorney get one right away and let the attorney do the fighting for you. (BH) 5/2/22
A5: Call the veteran's liaison in your Congressman's office as well as both state senators. Bitch about it to them. The VA tends to resolve issues brought about by HR and Senate inquiries. (LM) 5/2/22
A6: Yes, you can stop your claims. The question is, "is your claims active?" Many vets come to me saying they filed a claim years ago and haven't heard anything from the VA. What usually turns out is that there is no claim pending. The other possibility is that there is an appeal pending and you won't hear a lot from the BVA since they are so backlogged. I would recommend you contact an accredited VSO, such as the American Legion, or DAV, to name a few. We have direct access to your claims once we are your representative. When we file a claim for you, you can rest assured it will be done. (DS) 5/3/22
