Q853:  I’ve been service connected for 22 years, and I’m at 90% rated.  I know veterans who get re-evaluated every 2-3 years.  I have never been re-evaluated by the VA.  Veterans at my VA said the VA is doing more re-evaluations in 2022.  How often does the VA do a service-connected re-evaluation?  What are they checking for?

A1:  Who knows what the VA is doing; it is questionable the VA does not even comply with their own rules; for example, according to the VA they do not even consider decreasing your compensation benefit once you turn 59 you; also, a decrease in your compensation is not even considered until you've been receiving your compensation for 2 years! So, the VA does not even comply with their own rules!  (AS)  4/15/22

A2:  I get checked over every 4 years. (AT)  4/15/22

A3:  The VA must reevaluate service-connected veterans on average every 3-4 years.  It mostly depends on your service-connected condition.  The most severe cases have longer reevaluation times.  (LN)  4/15/22
