Q836:  What specific areas of Korea was Agent Orange used on from 1968 to 1975?

A1:  Veterans who served in a unit in or near the Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ) anytime between September 1, 1967 and August 31, 1971 are presumed to have been exposed to herbicides. These Veterans do not have to show they were exposed to Agent Orange to be eligible for disability compensation for these diseases. It's up to VA and the Department of Defense to determine that the Veteran's unit operated in the DMZ area and the Veteran was physically there.  (DS)  3/7/22

A2:  Veterans who served in a unit in or near the Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ) anytime between September 1, 1967 and August 31, 1971 are presumed to have been exposed to herbicides,

demilitarized zone (DMZ), region on the Korean peninsula that demarcates North Korea from South Korea. It roughly follows latitude 38 N (the 38th parallel), the original demarcation line between North Korea and South Korea.

It was created by pulling back the respective forces 1.2 miles (2 km) along each side of the line. It runs for about 150 miles (240 km) across the peninsula, from the mouth of the Han River on the west coast to a little south of the North Korean town of Kosng on the east coast. Located within the DMZ is the "truce village" of P'anmunj'm, about 5 miles (8 km) east of Kaes?ng, North Korea.  (RJ)  3/7/22
