Q824: I received a letter from the VA over a year ago asking about my bladder cancer I filed for several years ago and was denied. In this letter it said it would automatically review my claim. Since then I have heard nothing. What do I do?
A1: The simple answer is "you wait". The review process is taking a very long time. (RJ) 2/15/22
A2: Bladder cancer was recently added to the list of disabilities related to exposure to Agent Orange and VA is required to complete a Nehmer review. Nehmer claims are VA claims for compensation for presumptive conditions associated with Agent Orange exposure that were previously denied by VA under the 1984 Veterans' Dioxin and Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. I would seek the counsel of an accredited VSO, one who has access to the VA's VBMS system, who can help determine the status of your Nehmer claim for the bladder cancer. (DS) 2/15/22
A3: Did you answer that letter from the VA on your Bladder cancer. Did you have a Veteran Service Officer to file your claim for bladder cancer contact them and have them to do an inquiry into it. (GR) 2/15/22
