Q823:  My husband lived with me when he was alive. I have asked for a grant to help us with the mortgage, but never got it, now I see where the VA are giving houses to disabled Vets. My husband was 100% disabled and never got anything to help but the meager benefit. I am now having problem paying for the mortgage that he left behind. How can I get help?

A1:  I would suggest that you file a claim for widows pension.

If your husband served during a war time era and your finances are low, you should qualify for this benefit.  Please contact a local Veteran Service Officer for help with filing for this benefit.  (RJ)  2/15/22
