Q821: I have been taking five different types of blood pressure medications, diabetes medicine-heart medications for heart disease, medications for anxiety, depression, mood swings-angry bipolar and for neuropathy, erectile dysfunction and have been turned down for ED. What can I do? Plus have had surgery on both hands but fingers on both are still numb and now numbness is in both feet. Balance is off and pain is unbearable. Now what?
A1: Normally, if you are being treated for ED (have diagnosis) and the doctor says that, more likely than not or as likely as not, the medication you take for the treatment of one of your service-connected disabilities is causing your ED, then you can receive the SMC for ED. (DS) 2/11/22
A2: How old are you? The older you are, the less likely the VA will grant ED. What did your denial letter say? They tell you why they denied it. That is your road map to a possible supplemental claim or a higher level review. (RJ) 2/17/22
