Q816:  I've seen the article about contaminated groundwater. I am in the process of being evaluated for my disabilities and had no idea that the base I served at for 4 years active duty was on that list. I suffer from all symptoms listed. HOW do I get this added to my evaluation? Who do I need to contact?  Please advise...thank you.

A1:  If you served at Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River for at least 30 cumulative days from August 1953 through December 1987, and
didn't receive a dishonorable discharge when you separated from the military you can file for service connected compensation for Adult leukemia
Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes
Bladder cancer
Kidney cancer
Liver cancer
Multiple myeloma
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Parkinson's disease

I would recommend seeking an accredited veteran service officer to help you file your claim. Most states all have VSOs whose job is to help veteran and their dependents and survivors deal with paperwork related to filing for benefits free of charge.  (DS)  1/25/22
