Q802: If you have a 10% disability rating and the chart reads vet only, but he has dependent do they count or not? When other charts show a list of dependents.

A1: If you are talking about being compensated for dependents, then the answer is "no." When you reach the 30% disabled level, then you can have your spouse and other dependents. Your children will remain on your award until the day they turn 18. You add and remove dependents on a VA Form 21-686c. If your children are still in school, they can stay on your award until they are 23. If in school, complete a VA Form 21-674. If you are 100% SC and your children are going to school under Chap 35, then you cannot claim them on your VA award since the VA pays the children direct. (DS) 12/15/21
A2: You can only starting receiving benefits for your dependents after you are 30% SVC and above. (GH) 12/15/21
A3: Dependents counts when a Veterans is rated at 30% or higher. 10% or 20% rated Veterans do not receive pay for dependents. (GR) 12/29/21
