Q793: I have a VA HEALTHCARE ENROLLEE - SERVICE CONNECTED ID card. The card says "Card Expires 09/15/2024". What happens on that date? Do I lose all VA benefits or will there be a renewal of the card and a new expiration date?

A1: No, you don't lose all your benefits. When the time comes, all you will have to do is get a new one when you verify all your information. The only time you would lose your benefits is if the VA found you fraudulently provided information to obtain benefits. (DS) 11/29/21
A2: Simple fix here. Go to the VA and have them update your card. (BC) 11/29/21
A3: VA ID cards do not expire. They are renewed. (MP) 11/29/21
A4: Your card will probably be worn out by the time of the expiration date. Next time you go to your next VA appointment, go a little early and stop by Eligibility and Enrollment and they will make you a new VA ID card. (DS) 1/24/24
A5: I just renewed mine. I think they just want to update your picture, although they used my old photo. (DN) 4/5/24
A6: No, you do not lose your healthcare benefits on that date. Next VAMC appointment you have, check with eligibility and enrollment and they can redo you ID card. Some places now allow you to renew it online submitting a photo and your current information. (DS) 4/8/24
