Q763:  Is a VA Dr. who does a biopsy and determines I have prostate cancer do I automatically get compensation for it?  I was in Vietnam and am Agent Orange registered with the VA health system.

A1:  No, sir, you do not get it automatically. What I would recommend is to consult with an accredited service officer and file your claim for service connected compensation (SC). You can do this on a VA Form 21-526ez, but it will be so much easier to let the service officer complete and submit. We use systems now where we directly upload the claim directly into VBMS, the system the VA uses to work claims. Bring the biopsy results with you. You should be service connected @ 100% while the cancer is active. When you complete your treatment, then the VA will reevaluate.  (DS)  8/18/21

      

A2:  No, you will still need to file a disability claim. I STRONGLY suggest using a Service Officer. Check our DAV, Am Legion, VFW etc.  (KD)  8/18/21
