Q758:  I was in the infantry in the Canal Zone (Panama). We did a lot of jungle training. Later I was told that Agent Orange was used in Panama. Why haven't I seen Panama on the Agent Orange list?

A1:  Go to your local DAV and ask. They will be able to assist you.  (RC)  7/11/21

A2:   The fact that you were "told" that Agent Orange (AO) was used in Panama does not necessarily mean that it was used there. VA depends on DoD to provide information regarding in-service environmental exposure for disability claims based on exposure to herbicides outside of Vietnam. Until the VA is notified by DOD, no claims for disabilities related to AO use in Panama would be approved. What you can do is file your claim now for the disability and then if Panama is added to the list of AO use in the future, you have an established effective date that the VA could use to award you back pay.  (DS)  7/12/21
