A1: Call 844-724-7842. That?s the number 24 hours a day. They will give you an authorization to give to the hospital. (GH) 7/11/21
A2: Good question cause I was not able to this and now I have a large hospital bill that I have to pay. (SG) 7/11/21
A3: Important to remember is to notify the VA within 72 hours of hospitalization or ER treatment. (LC) 7/11/21
A4: Go to your local DAV or VSO and they will give you the location and phone number where to get in touch with the right place in VA. (RC) 7/11/21
A5: Actually, the hospital will notify the VA medical center. They are required to notify them. Once you are stabilized the VA may have you moved to one of the VA medical centers near you that can treat you. Always tell the E/R that you are VA when you check in and provide your VA medical ID card. If you don't, you may encounter problems when asking the VA to pay the bill. (DS) 7/12/21
A6: Had to go to the emergency room the other night because my VA hospital is 1 1/2 hrs away . Called the 800 number after getting there and received an authorization within 15 minutes . Now will have to wait and see how things go. (DP) 7/22/21
