Q641: For over a year I have been waiting for an answer on my VA compensation. Having a heart attack in November again has left me in need, at this time I am sorry to be a vet. Can anyone help in this matter?

A1: I would suggest asking a local VSO or DAV to assist you. They have the ability to check your VA e-file and follow up for you. I wish you luck and hope my suggestion helps you. (RC) 1/13/21
A2: Check with your volunteer service advisor such as Disabled Veterans organization which will be located at your veterans medical center where you receive treatment. Also you can opt to call your local American Legion Rep in your area. They also should have an office at your med. center. Don't quote me but I am pretty sure the VA at your regional office must respond to your claim within 90 days. If rejected by them then you have the option to file an appeal. Hope this helps. A3: It took the VA's Philly office two years to respond to me. I asked a VFW VSO for help. I don't know what he did but I had an appointment within 2 weeks and was rated that some day. I did receive the 24 months of delayed compensation though. (TM) 1/13/21
A4: If you have a Veteran Service Officer I would contact them and have them contact the VA to see what is going on with your claim. I tell my Veterans if you have not heard from the VA by 90 days from the date not counting weekends and holidays come in or call me and I will found out what is going on. (GR) 1/13/21
A5: Call and send an email to BOTH your Senator and Congressman. (CM) 1/13/21
A6: Had similar problem a bit longer, even after I was approved. Call your Senator to DC. Next month I got a check. It's hell, like war, Contact charities for help, get friends and neighbors to write your Senator, they are aware of your needs, get TV news to lay it on the line for you. Most of all pray as a family. I can come up with a hundred dollars if that helps, take me a couple days to get it up but, hell we're vets. The Bible says ask and ye shall receive. Are a member DAV, they help. Believe only believe that your help is coming I'll pray if you will, Bible says where two or more are gathered in His name (Jesus) He would be there. Semper Fi , don't ever quit. It's on the VA not you, you have to fight for what they owe you, fight like you've never fought before. Call the VA ask what the hold up ask what else they need. call your senator's office and explain, You're NOT ALONE, you just don't know that. *pm tonight you and your family get on your knees and pray with me the next five days. In short terms GUNG HO mean's work together so let's all work GUNG HO FOR YOU. (AL) 1/13/21
A7: My recommendation would be to find a really good reputable VSO - I had been fighting on my own for quite a while for upgrade in benefits and finally ended up with a VSO and he got me my 100%. Especially if you find one that knows how to "read" and decifer all the mumbo jumbo jargon from the VA would also be recommended. My VSO had legal clerk background with the VA so he understood all the jargon and dissected my paperwork easily. (IG) 1/13/21
A8: Do you have an accredited Veteran Service Officer tracking your claim in the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS). If not please reach out to an American Legion Service Officer. Here's the link for all the service officers in the country: https://www.legion.org/serviceofficers (AG) 1/14/21
A9: You have been waiting for over a year for an answer on you VA compensation. Is the something you filed for an increase, supplemental, notice of disagreement?? The question is vague. If you want to find out on your own, you can call the new VA number 800-698-2411, and they will either answer your question or refer to the proper agency's phone to get you an answer. I am a VSO and when I have representation, I am able to follow all the claims through to fruition. Not sure where you are from, but most states have a state veteran organization, such as mine, where you can seek counsel free of charge. Since the COVID pandemic has started, most VA claims are way overdue being completed. The holdup has been with the contract examiners, QTC, LHI, VET, etc, that have put exams on hold. I have several claims that were filed December 2019 that are awaiting C&P exams. (DS) 1/14/21
A10: Contact DAV, Disabled American Veterans Organization, at your nearest VA facility They should be of great help to you. (DJ) 1/18/21
