Q627: I was diagnosed with a Kidney Stone in November 2011, and was retired as of 30 Nov 2011. The VA gave me 10% for my Kidney Stones for a total of 90% disability. A couple of years later, the civilian Doctor did an Addendum to my medical records ordering a low oxalate diet. I resubmitted my claim to the VA as a disagreement with the 10% due to Diet Therapy. They bumped me up to 30% for the recurrent kidney stones with Diet Therapy, which bumped up my total to 100%. Is it feasible that I could get retroactive pay back to Nov 2011 or am I stuck with the start date of the order for a Low Oxalate diet?

A1: Contact your VSO who assisted you with your claims. Also you can contact an Accredited VSO with the DAV, VFW, Am Vets, Am Legion or another Veterans Service Organization. Take all of your paper work regarding your claim. The VSO can explain the VA decision review letter and other questions regarding your claim. (GH) 12/30/20
A2: I don't have an answer but I do have a question. I have had an on going problem with kidney stones ever since I got out of the Army
I filed claims but they were always denied by the VA. What did you do to get them to approve your claim. I am not on a special diet but I do take potassium pills twice a day to help decrease the chance of stones. They are prescription from my private Doctor. (AM) 12/30/20
