Q622:  My husband is 100% total and permanent and he has gotten pretty bad with his health this year and we need to have our tub converted to a shower as I can't get him in the tub now.  Is there a program for that?  Thank you.

A1:  There is a $6800 dollar HISA grant available witch needs to be instituted through his primary doctor at the VA. Ask the doctor to get this started for him as it is normally handled through prosthetics. Good luck.  (KS)  12/27/20

A3:  Yes I just did the same, Contact the VA Clinic in your area and they will direct you, it took only 5 weeks and they did a great job.  (EB)  12/28/20

         

A4:  Yes, there is and it's called "AID AND ATTENDANCE". You have to apply through the Regional Office NOT the Hospital. The Hospital's primary job is to make you well with medication, etc. To make your life easier and more enjoyable (like fix your tub/shower) you have to contact the Regional office.  (RA)  12/28/20

   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

         

A5:   Yes there is. I believe it is called HISA (Grant) check with your local VA for the application. There are specifics for what you can do to your bathroom or whatever room your trying to accommodate for him.  (MR)  12/28/20

        

A6:  Yes- contact your local Va Medical Center, inquire about the Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) Program.
