Q582: Who can I get to assist me with Social Security Benefits? I've been rated at 100% unemployable by VA in 2016 and I've applied and been denied 3 times by [North Carolina] Social Security. I really don't understand this process! Please provide me something to go on to get my much needed benefits. Thanks!
If you have a question about benefits, compensation, pension or VA related issues please submit here.

A1: Its time to Lawyer up! My first attempt was a quick no. I listened to alot of people who had social security benefits, and was told get a Lawyer. I went with a retired Army Jag Lawyer and it paid off . You will pay a percentage of the back pay you receive or I think 6000. Good luck hope you get it. (MR) 11/23/20
A2: You may have to get a good lawyer to plead your case as the SS always turns people down. (WH) 11/23/20
A3: I'm not sure what your disabilities are but you can work through your local ADRC / HHS at your county for assistance filling out the paperwork. Make sure to include your VA disability letter with your SSDI claim with SSA because, as a 100% disabled vet, they will have less time to work your claim. Also, check your SSA account online and make sure you qualify for SSDI. If you don't have the requisite 20 quarters then you don't qualify. It should state this on your SSA account. Best of Luck. A4: You should hire an attorney to handle this situation, do a search on the internet in your area for SSI Attorneys. I am 100% disabled and that what I did to get my ssi. (GR) 11/23/20
A5: Start with your local County Veterans Service Officer, or the Service officer at a local American Legion, DAV, VFW, AMVETS, etc Post. They do more than VA Benefits. Often they can point you to a local organization such as the Area Agency on Aging, or a local Seniors Advocate, or even an Attorney specializing in Social Security issues. (DJ) 11/23/20
