A6:  It is VERY Simple to arrive at your question.. You First MUST understand two (or three words):

1. Service-Connection....Meaning that something (a Disease, Injury OR an Event) occurred to you WHILE you were on Active Duty. That Disease, Injury or Event now 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 (or whatever years later) has come back to affect your well being. In your Military Records there must be some type record that backs up ONE of those three (Disease, Injury OR Event). Example: During Basic were you injured? Did you seek medical aid from Medic, Doctor or Hospital? If you did, there should be a written record, a written statement from a doctor, or some type of documentation from the hospital. This would ALL be in your 201 File. A Good Prime example would be the Awarding of a Purple Heart: Injury or wound visible, signed by a Medic, documented by a doctor at a hospital. Now in the present one of those three is affecting you so you go and see a doctor. The doctor concludes that ONE of those Three is INDEED connected to your Military Service. That there is your Service-Connection.

2. Nexus: What this word means is: A connection or series of connections or series of connections linking two or more things..Or in a simple form---a connection between time in service and the present. In order to obtain Service-Connection you need to fit somewhere in the above.
