Q457: I qualified for Agent Orange, but shouldn't I qualify for VA medical services also? Haven't heard from VA about this! Please let me know. Thank you.
If you have a question about benefits, compensation, pension or VA related issues please submit here.
Use Form Below To Respond
A1: Have you received a Determination Letter affirming that you have been awarded Service-connection for your Agent-Orange-related disabilities? This Determination specifies the level of Compensation you will receive. Usually the Compensation awarded includes enrollment in VA Healthcare. But if you do not yet have a Determination Letter, you have nothing. Have your VSO ping on the VA to find out where your Claim is. (DJ) 7/9/20
A2: If you served in Vietnam, you qualify for VA medical care regardless of how much money you make. You will have to complete a VA Form 10-10ez and submit. The quickest way, however, is to present to Eligibility at the nearest VA medical center w/ your DD-214 and they will enroll you. (DS) 7/9/20
A3: Yes if your DD214 says you were in Viet Nam you do not need a means test. (PM) 7/9/20
A4: If you registered for the Agent Orange Registry, it is different than applying for VA medical. You need to complete a VA form 10-10EZ and send to your nearest VA Medical Center. If you served in Vietnam you will not have to provide your income. (CB) 7/9/20
A5: Have you ever filed a claim? I suggest you contact an Accredited VSO with the DAV, VFW, American Legion, AmVets or another service organizations. Agent Orange is a presumptive and I cannot remember any qualifications. Take your discharge (DD-214) and set down and tell a VSO what you have that was caused by exposure to Agent Orange. He/She can show what is considered by the VA to be related to Agent Orange exposure. If you had boots on the ground, Brown Water or Blue Water Navy or at another site other than Viet Nam they can assist you. Do it tomorrow. (GH) 7/9/20
