A1:  Pls ck Va.gov believe you have to have 20 years for her entitlement.  (FG)  6/19/18

A2:   I am at 100% and what they tell me after you have drawn for ten years, and after this, you die your wife will receive a widowers pension, which I think is about half of your pension.  (LP)  6/19/18

A3:  The surviving parent(s) may be eligible for an income-based benefit. The basic monthly rate of DIC is $1,283.11 for an eligible surviving spouse. The rate is increased for each dependent child, and also if the surviving spouse is housebound or in need of aid and attendance. This is not based on 100%.  (CW)  6/19/18

A4:  If your death is due to your disability then your wife would receive about 1100 a month. I'm not completely sure if she would receive the money if you died from say an auto accident. Research it.   (JP)  6/20/18

A5:  At a minimum she would receive $1283. She could possibly be eligible for the enhanced amount with an additional $272. (That is not counting Aid and Attendance if she qualifies.)  (LC)  6/21/18

A6:  Your spouse will get the base DIC rating of $1283.11 plus the enhanced amount of $272.46. She will continue to receive ChampVA and a military ID card and any other entitlements you currently receive, minus dental.  (LC)  7/10/18

A7:   If you die from a SC disability, your wife will qualify for DIC.
If you are 100% for over 10 years, you can die from any cause and your wife will qualify for DIC.  If your wife does not qualify for DIC, it may be possible for her to qualify for a War Time, widows pension. This will depend on your war time service and her income after your death. The widows pension is very small. DIC is the better benefit.  (RJ)  7/26/18
