Q53:  I am a disabled Vietnam veteran living in Germany. I am classified as 100% disabled. I am 68 years old and have severe health problems. I would like to know if, after my death, my spouse will continue to receive payments from my disability. Have searched but cannot find anything in that direction. If anyone could help me in any way, I would be grateful.

A1:  No she will recieve DIC or SBP depending if you are retired military. Yoy can do a google search on VA DIC.  (TB)  5/25/18

A2:  Because you are 100% your wife may qualify for DIC Depending on how long you've been married.  (AP)  5/25/18

A3:   I don't have that answer, but I would also like to know the answer. Thanks!  (EC)  2/28/20

A4:  Call the VA. You will get the right answer call
1 800 827 -1000.  (JP)  6/30/20

A5:   I believe that your wife will receive half of your VA disability monies. She will loose her social security monies and receive all of your social security monies or keep which ever is of the greater amount.  (RR)  12/28/20

A6:  When the veterans dies the benefit dies. She will get one check after you die.  She can get DIC if you were 100% permanently and totally disabled for at least 8 years. Provided she doesn't remarry.  (BV)  2/28/21

A7:  There are 2 amounts one if you pass and one if you pass from a disability you are rated at and second she will get monies if you pass after 10 years rated at 100% total disabled.  (JC)  2/28/21

A8:  Now if you have been 100% total and permanent for 10 years and you pass away your Wife could possible qualify for the Dependent Identity Compensation referred to as (DIC).  Which is about one third of your disability payment. Disability is for the Veteran and when the Veteran passes disability benefits stop.  (GR)  3/2/21

A9:   I have the answer for you. After you pass your wife is entitled to receive $1500.0 per month. It all depends if you have been rated at 100% (disability for military service) and you have been married for 10 years or more. I forgot the form number but the DAV can get it for you. Good Luck  (JL)  7/3/21
