Q238:  I am the commander of a Catholic War Veterans Post, one of my members has an issue.  He is a Navy Veteran, who is listed with the VA as a ‘non-veteran’ for his service connected injury.  How can he get his status changed to “veteran”?

Use Form Below To Respond

A1:  What is the status of is current discharge. Need to know what happened and then a decision can be made how to go about getting it changed.  (GR)  9/11/19

A2:  How can he be enrolled for VA Healthcare or anything VA if VA has him down as a non-veteran? something is amiss.  (RI)  9/11/19

A3:  To be listed as a "veteran", he must have at least 90 CONSECUTIVE days that he has served. This could be boot camp or tech school. Unfortunately, there are circumstances where some that have served, simply cannot do that. That is most likely why he is considered through the VA as a "non-veteran". If he can prove he has 90 days back-to-back, he should work with a service officer to get it updated.  (KD)  9/11/19
