Q185:  I applied for clothing allowance and it was denied but another veteran I know applied for clothing allowance with the same medicine as me and he was approved. The medicine is an ointment for muscle pain and it states that it will damage clothing and to wear clothing loosely to protect the clothing.  Why wasn’t I approved for a clothing allowance?

A1:  Are you service connected for the reason you use the ointment if not that is the reason you are not qualified to receive clothing allowance. Simply because you use the same med does not make you eligible, you must be service connected & prescribed the med for use in connection with that service connected issue.  (RL)  11/11/18
