Q165:  I am a 20% disabled vet and have a disabled daughter.  She had a brain tumor as a young child and lives with us, cannot live alone. She has collected SSI until early last Fall when Social Security changed her over to Disability. Immediately the VA dropped my travel reimbursement and now I have to pay for meds. I cannot find anyone to help us. I am not working, I'm on disability and to the nearest VA hospital is 171 miles round trip.   Since January of this year, I have drove 7,749.6 miles to just VA medical appointments. There has got to be help! Please.

A1:  I don't really know your service history nor do I know how long you've been 20% but I would recommend reevaluating your possible service connected disabilities. Get logged in to premium accounts with MyHealtheVet and eBenefits. Once you do that pull up your Problem List from the BlueButton and then start a claim on eBenefits for EVERYTHING on your problem list that might be service connected.  (TB)  10/23/18

A2:  Since you live 171 miles from the nearest VAMC, I believe you qualify to receive your medical care from the nearest private physician/hospital for treatment. Speak with a VSO agent or a Veteran Couselor/Social Workers to find out how to apply.  (SS)  10/23/18
