Q124:  My husband had a claim in the works when he passed away in 2005.  I, his wife kept it going and got a lawyer out of Michigan to help process the claim.  The lawyer dropped me saying he could not get the benefits for me as a surviving spouse.  My husband had a heart back and high blood pressure.  Also, he had a suspicious rash on his body.  My question, can I re-open the case?

A1:  You can always re-open a claim..BUT, you need new and material evidence to do so. You should use the aid of a veterans service officer..VSO. Good luck!  (JD)  9/12/18

A2:  Contact your local County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) for assistance with VA Claim and/or information. To find your local CVSO, go to https://www.nacvso.org/ and select "Find Service Officers" and then select "State Directory" which takes you to https://www.nacvso.org/find_service_officers/state, and now select / click on the "State" you live in on the map displayed. This will give you a State link for CVSOs to click on for your specific County CVSO.

Or use under "Find Service Officers," the link titled "County Directory" and then select your State on the map, and the County you live in within the State, for your County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) to contact for assistance.  Hope this helps you out.  (ED)  9/12/18

A3:  No, ma'am. You can take over his claim but once it is closed, that is it.  (AP)  9/12/18
