Q101:  I developed bladder cancer this past year and had bladder and prostrate removed. Cause of this cancer is smoking and/or working around chemicals. While stationed onboard the USS Coral, I worked in the Captain's Office which was directly below flight deck. There was the smell of aviation fuel all around the area. I also smoked. Would this situation be eligible for a disability?

A1:   Have you had a medical opinion that this is what caused your cancer. In most instances, smoking does not cause bladder.prostate cancer. Smelling aviation fuel does not sound like it would cause those types of cancers, either. You would definitely need a medical opinion and diagnosis.  (AP)  8/14/18
