It is important for veterans to get a full thyroid screening if you think your thyroid is not working properly.  For veterans exposed to Agent Orange, they may be particularly vulnerable to thyroid abnormalities.  For veterans who experience any of the following:

  

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Excessive nervousness, anxiety , or irritability
  • Trouble sleeping at night
  • Increased puffiness in face
  • Frequent constipation
  • Over sensitivity to cold
  • Increased sweating
  • Thinning hair
  • Weak fingernails
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Frequent fatigue
  • Muscle weakness

You may want to consider getting frequent medical check-ups to make sure your thyroid is working as it should or to determine if you need medical treatment for thyroidism.
