New Research Finds Another AO Link

New findings from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine conclude that “sufficient evidence” exists linking hypertension and related illnesses in veterans exposed to Agent Orange and other defoliants used in Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea in the 1960s and 1970s.

The new research findings that strongly suggests a positive link with veterans’ high blood pressure to wartime exposure to chemical defoliants could expand Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability benefits for scores of Vietnam-era veterans.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine recommend adding high blood pressure to the list of 14 presumptive conditions associated with Agent Orange exposure, a group that includes Hodgkin’s Disease, prostate cancer, Type II Diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease just to name a few.

If VA officials follow through with the recommendation, it could open up new or additional disability benefits to thousands of aging veterans who served in those areas and who are now struggling with high blood pressure.

Additional Money From Social Security Administration

Thousands of veterans may qualify for a higher Social Security payments because of their military service.  Veterans who served active duty any time from 1957 through 2001 may be eligible for extra Social Security money.  Additional income up to $1,200 per year of earnings credit may be added to a veterans income for the period of time the veteran was in the military. The extra $1,200 credit per year of service can make a substantial difference in the calculation of Social Security monthly payments upon a veteran’s retirement. A veteran must bring their DD Form 214 a nearby Social Security office and simply ASK for the benefit to be added to their account.  What are you waiting for?  Go!

I went to the SS and talked to them about this and they advised this is BS. Don't waste your time.

If you read the article above--The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine """recommend""" adding high blood pressure to the list of 14 presumptive conditions associated with Agent Orange exposure. This does not mean that they have approved it yet.....
